Selling social media accounts

I have come across some persons who sell social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram and the likes as their business. They create these accounts, then grow it to the point where the accounts have thousands of followers then leave it for a few years then sell it. The older the accounts the higher the value. What do you think about this kind of businesses? I noticed it is people who are into scamming on social medias are the ones who usually but this accounts more often.

I agree that these accounts can be used misused by unscrupulous individuals, such as scammers, which is obviously worrying. At the same time, some people might find a legitimate use for these accounts, but this really depends on the situation.

At present social media influencers who have a large number of followers, likes are getting paid very well , so there is a lot of demand for social media accounts compared to websites with low advertising income.

I have not experienced or heard it in my place. There might be those who have many followers and the person who likes to assume has a big business. It is very interesting though.

While selling my websites, I have given away my social pages as a part of the deal, however, I have never sold social media accounts directly. However, I once bought twitter account and facebook account.

Facebook was used by the bad users like a drug den. Many accounts were removed by Meta Facebook because of rampant scamming. There were 63, 000 Facebook accounts removed by Meta the other week because of their scamming activities.
