In my view, it is still better to use these two. The needs vary from one company to another. Of course, conference calls were so useful during the pandemic season. It is safest not to be infected with COVID-19. Now, we are experiencing a new normal. It means we can use either method to continue working with others, locally or internationally.
Some claim that in-person meetings take longer to complete than ones conducted by conference call. What do you think of the two?

This is usually true in most cases. When having a conversation through a conference call, you can easily be distracted, or there could be network issues, and one can easily uncomfortable. But when in person, you are already aware that you are there for that reason alone.
For international meetings, it is more convenient to make use of conference calls. In fact, virtual meetings are getting common in multinationals. There's no need for workers to travel to meet with each other face to face.
The situation on ground is what is going to determine the best channel for which should be required to carry out a company's meeting because during the time of pandemic of corona virus, almost every company carried out their meeting through conference call.
Any one of them can take a longer time. It generally depends on the issue deliberated and the vested interests in the issue. None of them takes longer.
Business meetings that are conducted online may lack quality. This is due to poor internet connection in many countries.
It is true that in person meetings take longer because people have the luxury to tackle all the details and fine prints.
When it is a business meeting that has very much at stake, I person meetings are more effective than online meetings.
