They call it a mother's group ad this kind of saving and investment scheme was originally formed by mothers.

I think it is not similar to United States stock market, because stock market primarily involves investing in shares and stocks of various companies. Whereas, SIP in India covers investing in different schemes in a systematic manner.

I am not familiar with SIPS. But when I was working we used to take out a certain amount from our salaries as a group 6, and we would devide our selves monthly and whoever picks January will be given the total sum that we have contributed and then next month another will get the amount so forth and so forth.

You should choose the right shares or mutual fund for your SIP, for equity investment the value of the investment may decrease, and you may make a loss.
