What are the reasons as to why occupational mobility of skilled labour is low
One of the reasons is it is not required a particular skill. It will take a lot of chances to be hired. All I know is that we'll+skilled people are usually hired abroad.
Occupational mobility of labor is not low. It is rather high. Given that tech has made everything possible now. I may have a degree in education but working as an accountant in the morning and a DJ in the evening all with the use of software.
I think this hinge more on Fear of the unknown thsn other things. Leaving one occupation to another isn't easy and theres also the consideration of Cost of retraining too
I think businesses are doing much more to retain their employees now. It is not easy to have skilled employees and when they are found, they are held with both hands.
Occupational mobility is not low in my location. There is a shortage of skilled employees here, in particular in the medical, IT industry. While employers are trying these best to retain these skillful employees, they are able to get a job with another company which offers better pay and prospects easily.
