The requirements for operating a pharmaceutical store is that you must have license to operate. Though, we still have patent medicine dealers who owns small medicine shop. Government allow this patent medicine dealers to operate and sell OTC drugs. They are not allowed to sell some drugs called classified drugs.
in Nigeria you must ensure that you ;
- Obtain a degree in pharmacy from a recognized university
- Register with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN)
- Obtain a license to practice pharmacy from the PCN
- Register your pharmacy with the PCN and obtain a premises registration certificate
- Comply with all the regulations and guidelines set by the PCN for operating a pharmacy in Nigeria
Even with the patent medicine dealers the level of scrutiny they go through before being licensed to operate is enormous. You must have been trained in it for years before you can operate.
If you don't have the knowledge about drugs it is going to be very difficult for you to run this kind of business because you wouldn't know the right drugs to sell to patients that need them.

Most times that I have seen, this arrangement always ends in conflicts and disagreements between the owner of the pharmacy and then pharmacist whose license was used. Before trying this method, terms have to be clearly defined to cover at least 10 years of the pharmacy business.
Of course things like that happens. But when a very good agreement is signed between the pharmacist and the owner problems will not arise.
A lot of people who are running pharmacy in my country don't even have all these licences but some of them actually have it forged which is why I have seen some of those pharmacies close down.
I believe every country have their rules and regulations. So I don't think it will be the same everywhere.
Only a licensed pharmacist are allowed to dispense drugs so it's a must that the. pharmacy must have one. It's hard for a non pharmacist to open a pharmacy store because hiring a licensed pharmacist is expensive. I addition to having a regular licensed pharmacist the other sales clerks must also have proper certificates from a government regulating agency which issues these certificates like the TESDa.
I believe that it is a very good idea to open a pharmacy shop because this type of business is very profitable. In my country, you must have a university diploma for that and get a license from the government.
Yeah, I think there are some medical associations in every country that always grant permission for that. So you need to go to them and find out the rules.
You are very correct with that assessment because whenever requirement that is set up for opening such business in United States of America is different from what is obtainable in Nigeria
Probably, in some countries the tax forms must be filled when you are registering for such a business but there are some countries where it is not necessary. So some of those things must be put in place.
