The very first thing you may need is a blog where you could promote products. Your blog must also have a good amount of unique traffic as well.

Yeah it is good to write reviews and post on blogs. Then you can embed the links in them so that readers can click on it.

Maybe I gave up too soon. You are right. But I got disappointed because I tried a lot, I invested time and effort without a result.

That's the most discouraging point in learning something. When you have invested time and effort to do something but it is just not working out. You just don't have to give up. Just hang on.

From my experience I think we need more of good marketing skills because you need to keep marketing and sharing your affiliate links to keep people knowing about it daily
