Which is more important, opening or closing a meeting in business?

In my book, both are of them are equally important. A business meeting will not be completed without opening and closing the meeting.

At the opening of the meeting there will often be a general description of the topics to be discussed, while the closing of the meeting is a summary or conclusion of various opinions but is not detailed enough and cannot be understood if the participants do not attend the meeting as a whole.

In my view both are important but closing bearing somewhat more importance as compare to opening because here people starts assessing the final impression of the meeting which they are going to discuss rest of the day.

This is quite true. sometimes you may even be meeting some people for the very first time. But before closing you might have got a lot of ideas and it is easier.
