Which would you rather have as a manager: motivated or satisfied employees?

If I am a manager, I would prefer a satisfied employee. For the reason that it can fuel himself or herself to be motivated at work. I had seen some workers who tend to be productive if being contented at his or her workplace.

Unless we would be deceiving ourselves. No employees ever be satisfied. They are always "Oliver Twist" in nature. Which customers would not be demanding for more no matter how you try to satisfy him?.

For me the two has to work together, cause if an employee is too satisfied, it could lead to him or her not taking their job seriously as they are already relaxed but when a worker is relaxed and motivated, you will definitely see results.

Working at a new job now that's still trying to find it's footing, I believe working with a satisfied staff is easier. They are easier to motivate. A discontented staff would feel like it's a waste to give them your best.

I prefer motivated employees. There is what we call diminishing marginal utility of labor. That means the efficency of labour reduces even as you offer more incentives. That usually happens with satisfied labor.

For me I would go for motivated employees. I think as you all know it, it's quite easier to work with a motivated team than the satisfied team that would be very reluctant in the job.

You are right in some sense though, they might feel they already have all they need so there is no need trying to put in more effort. Does who are motivated on the other hand would want to always but in their best.

It's true that I agree with you, employee satisfaction will motivate employees to continue to increase their productivity. So that it will be more profitable for the company. Therefore it is very important to maintain employee satisfaction in various ways, one of which is by treating them well and giving them a decent salary.

Yes that's right, satisfaction in most cases tend to lead to motivation, but in most cases these can also backfire, as when they become to satisfied, they tend to be too relaxed.

As an employer or someone who is in charge of my employees, I would rather go for a satisfied workers, because motivation is temporary, it is passive not active, so what then happens when the motivation is no longer there, that means the progress of the job will be slowed down.

Satisfied staff always find themselves relaxed after some time. Motivated staff are always hungry and want to achieve more. I would prefer a staff that is hungry to a staff that is stable.

I believe that satisfaction boosts motivation, so I would rather have satisfied employees. Though satisfaction could also lead to laxity, there is a fine line there that should be looked out for.

I actually love people who are satisfied because the ones you tend to motivate you will always complain about everything that you do and I may not feel good about it

Lol funny but this is also another point, these days people always want to be pushed before doing anything, which means you have to keep on motivating them before they can actually make any reasonable move.

And some people are very lazy that they will not do what they are supposed to do until they are told what to do even though they know the right thing that they should do and it is always annoying

A motivated employee still has the hunger to do more and achieve more. A satisfied staff has seen it all and probably doesn't have that same hunger. There is nothing new that you can tell such a staff to fire him or her up.

There is nothing that says i can not have employees that are both satisfied and motivated to work for me and get to generate good profits and production rate for the organization.
