Some people are confused if the Human Resource Department are the ones who hire people. In fact, the final decision usually are the top management such as the managers. But then, it depends on what companies that they are working it. Any thoughts about it?

For me, it's the owner who can make the final decision unless it is a corporation for there are board members to decide .

Here in our organisation the top management takes decision. As when the person is interviewed and clears all of them, our COO meets with a person and analyse him/her if he/she is fit for the job or not.

Mostly top management takes decisions but if it's a big unit the HR is the person who will take all these decisions about whether to hire a person or not

It depends on the type of business and what kind of decisions to be made. For a sole proprietorship, the business owner makes the final decision of all matters. For corporations, line managers can make decisions on some matters. Important or strategic issues have to be decided by the CEO or the Board of Directors.

Well it depends on the business and how it has been structured. In most cases the business owners themselves usually set up a team who would go through every decision before it is being accepted. In other cases it could be the board members or highest shareholders.

In a company, it falls on the owner to make decisions. But sometimes, the owner will delegate such functions to the manager. If it is a public liability company, the board of directors makes final decisions.

The nature of business would determine the choice of decision making in such business. If it were one man business, the decision making lies with the owner of the business.

Probably, If it is in a one-man business he or she can easily make the decision without consulting anybody. But that is not the case in a partnership business.

If the company has a human resource department, they are the ones who recommend that a particular person be hired or not. They don't have the final decision but their inputs are vital to the final decision.

Yes, in most companies, the final decision really depends on the superior/boss/owner. But if everything relies on superiors, then in my opinion it is less effective, why not just do the division of tasks, for example there is some kind of standard transaction that usually occurs, there is no need to rely on superiors. Example: When a product's stock runs out, then simply restock it based on applicable standards and regulations.

Or you have line mangers that make decisions based on the activities in that line. They must be experienced people who understand the processes of the organization.

In most organizations, the boss is the sole decision making body of the organization. The managers are just figurehead but he is the one that orders everything. I dislike such kinds of organizations.
