Why are people still active on forums that don't pay.

With the advent of paid to post platforms, the expectations were that all those forums that don't pay would die off because People would migrate from there to forums that pay.

There are some people that are still very active on forums that don't pay. What is the factor driving them? Is it passion?

Not that I am active there, but I think maybe they do it for the entertainment. Sometimes it's hard letting of of a fun platform

I understand that sentiments where you have been involved in something for a long time and it is hard to let go.

There are so many forums that are not paid to post . You can only go there to post for free and learn.

I assumed that they are loyal to these sites. If I were in this situation, I would prefer being active on myLot.

Don't blame them. Some might not know that the site is no longer paying. Or some might be overconfident that the site would still rise up again and be paying.

There are plenty of sites, where people are loyal to them, regardless of them paying to be on it. Facebook for example does not normally pay people, unless you use their marketplace. Google doesn't pay people to use their site to search, yet people use them more than other search engines, like Bing.

Perhaps they are active there because they post for fun or they gain some knowledge.

One of the factors that keeps people on non-paying forums is that they find something fun there. Not everyone who is active in a forum aims to make money, there are also those who aim to gain experience. Like myself, I often become an active silent reader on Quora, because I often find new things there, either from experience or knowledge, even though I don't earn money by reading there.

It may be possible that they may be in safe position they may be in comfort zone and so they are spending their time just for enjoyment. But some people use forums traffic to promote their website link.

I think it is mostly because they always talk about other places where they can make money so they can just use it as an avenue to know other platforms to make

May be they have made some virtual friends on the forum. Some people enjoy learning new things and share ideas and experiences with members on the forum. Some do that as a hobby.

And I think some of them may just enjoy the way the forum works because I see no reason why I will continue to work on a forum that does not pay me

There are times that some people are just having that hobby of making posts and it does not matter to them if they get paid or not because if they were there for just the payment then the moment the forum stops paying they would also leave.

And some people still work on some websites that you do not pay them simply because they are very bored and they are just trying to while away time

It could be for various reasons though, there are persons who are still active there cause they must have already created a bound with does there so even if it does not pay, they are still willing to work there.

I also don't believe why many users still ignore the scam updates posted by us and still keep posting on the website

Everything is not about money I am active on nairaland forum but I do it for the entertainment, information and the fun platform. So it is different strokes for different folks

Haha not everything is about money some forums are way better then PTP and people just have fun and find maybe even frriends it's not worth it to post on PTP if you don't enjoy it

I am not active on any such forum that does not pay and I don't see any reason to stay active on any such website but I have joined a couple
