Does anyone write articles for clients directly? If yes, how do you find the clients ? How much do you charge for each article you write, and what do you do if the client does not pay?

I have never done that but its a popular Job if you are good at it and there are different forums on which you can post about your work and you will find clients and then you can start at Upwork etc also because you can easily find clients on these websites.

Writing articles for clients is not easy. It requires a lot of skills and that's why I have never tried it so far. However, there are people who write articles and make a good income from them.

Bidding on upwork is very time consuming, and there is a lot of personal information which has to be provided, so looking for other options.

I also don't like to share so much information so I also take back seat and find ways where I don't need to share any personal details.

I just started to trying write articles some time back. I write blogs for a local website in my country which pays $0.05 per post and I also write articles for a paid to post forum called forumCoin. They pay$1.5 per post

There are many source to post your ads like social media, forum and freelancing websites. Recently I posted an ad here and I received two clients in which one is the admin of this forum. I charged $1 and with more than 25 articles that I wrote.

That's right, I did it in Upwork waiting for a client but the pay is too small so I quit. It's a waste of time and energy.

I think the best place to find these clients would be on freelancing site. Find a good freelancing site to register on am sure you would get enough clients there over time.

First you have to be a good writer before looking for jobs .you can start with freelancing sites . You can also try different forums on which you can post about your work

You have to pitch your ideas, negotiate your rates, and deliver high quality work on time. You also have to deal with revisions, feedback and invoices. I charge per word or per project depending on the clients budget and expectations. I always get a signed agreement before starting any work and use a payment service like PayPal to ensure security.
