At what age should a parent stop taking care of a child?

Children are meant to grow and gain independence at a certain time. In my African culture, parents take care of kids for a long time. What age do you think a child should be independent and the parents stop taking care of him or her?

I feel parents should stop taking care of a child once the child starts to earn some money for him or herself. Some people are lucky to start earning on time while some people are not very lucky

In our family, after a daughter or son graduated in college, that's the time they are free to do what they want. They're already having a job that time and can manage their earnings.
