One of my previous companies, they provide some snacks or coffee while having the meetings. It can only offered during the break time. In this way, they can able to focus on the meetings.

At some occasions, it is allowed but they need to put them in a silent mode. It is not a good thing for the medical professionals to do this. If they do, some patients will die without being cared and treated by the doctors.
I think the best thing is to make it interactive, listen to their responses as you discuss is best way to keep them fully focused and try to pay more attention to every detail and even draw your attention to anything they aren't clear about.
