I have been hearing about device being damaged while trying to mine some cryptocurrencies, but I don't really know how true that could be, but I feel in one way or the other it could affect our devices greatly.

Very correct, all that is required of you is only your dedication and time, you can always ask forum members or make some deep research as regards to the survey site so as not to waste your precious time and effort working on survey sites that may turn out to be scam.
