In my opinion, we need to greet them according to their accepted culture or practice. It is how we give positive first impressions. The ways of greeting vary from one country to another.

I just say ho or how are you to my clients, but in my milk tea business we do not greet customers or buyers we just perform the order and their payment and change, and then profit comes next 🥰

I have good impression of the store if its sales greets me when I visit the store. Some convenient stores and eateries in my location greet customers by saying "Welcome to our store" or "Good Morning" "Good Afternoon" . I think this is good business manner.

Yes greeting them is very important, it not a must that you do greet them based on their culture cause you might not know their exact culture. Greeting them shows you acknowledge them and respect their presence.
