I would just do the job as if I am doing it for my money. I don't help out in anything. I come, do my work and leave.
This is why I hate offline jobs because you will have a boss who wants reports in any situation.
With diplomacy and sense of humor, you can handle any insensitive boss. Nobody is impossible to put in his place except you don't know how to handle and condition him . Find his weak point and use it against him.

Yeah this is another good way out. in fact, when once you notice just look for a way to exit.
