Pros and cons of meetings?

What are the pros and cons of meetings at work? And do you think companies spend too much time on meetings themselves, when people would rather be productive at work, over having to sit in a, yet another "boring" meeting?

I can see the need of meetings, when you have certain work goals provided to you. But I figure that if there are meetings, that the cons of attending, would be the frequency of said meetings, and how long they tend to go.

Meetings should only be conducted when there's a necessity to do it or if fell on the agreed time schedule. Most organization conduct meeting just for the sake of doing it and to release some funds for the meals. and allowances. In my office I conduct meeting briefly before my staff starts working and if there are urgent matters I do it by meeting them up individually for a brief time.

Personally speaking, I don't like meetings. One of the reasons is that the concerns are always the same thing. If the staff are aiming to deal with these company's problems, they need to have effective recommendations.

The number of meetings should be minimised in the organisation. Occasionally meetings becomes a wastage of time if done so frequently and anyhowly
Oh yeah, it can be a pretty big waste of time, if not done properly. I know a few locations of a few popular businesses here in the United States, that had issues with staying on target for work quotas, because management got involved, and decided that meetings were needed all the time, to somehow keep current on discussion on whatever was going on.

Meeting is very important but die to overbearing attitude of some managers and high ranking staff, the benefit become illusionary. Meeting is meant to deepen the communication and interaction between staffs and other members of an organization. The more staffs understand each other, the more they become more cooperative and coordinated than ever. A more cooperative team is more likely to have positive results.

There's a lot of advantages in holding meeting at workplaces so that a lingering discussions can be concluded then the disadvantage is that it takes a lot of time and it will affect activities at work.

Meetings are really important for workplace and businesses if good development need to be encouraged then a meeting should be taken. seriously. The opinion and the suggestions from employees should be encouraged too.

I do not like meetings either. They are so boring and tiring. I think that meetings should be conducted only when there is a good reason.

In my work place, meeting has become burdensome and lost the effects it is supposed to have, that's because the frequency is too much. You can address issues without calling for a meeting everytime.

Having meetings in a business setup is very important for the growth of the business, these the best place to hear from the employees and know what they lack and how to rectify the situation. But i think having too much meetings would not be healthy for the business.

Meetings should only be called only when there are important things that need to be deliberated and they shouldn't take eternity to finish. Some companies just call meetings like a routine.

if you organize meetings frequently, these meetings will become meaningless and are just customary. You should organize meetings only when you have topics for discussions or there are one issues in the companies that need to to brought in the meetings.
