As a business owners you must realize the relevant of your workers to the progress of your business. You must take them as stakeholders too. You must agree that they are not working under you but with you. Mutual understanding will promote the good relationship that is needed in order to have maximum output from them. Their cooperation is what would make the business grows. That is why their views must be considered in every decisions taking by the management for the progress of the business.

If I was a boss, I would consider employees as company assets. They must be treated well in order to continue to want to work well. One way is to provide proper salary, facilities, and awards for each of their achievements.
That's right I agree with you. Employees are the backbone of the company, because employees are one of the keys to the smooth running of the company's operations. So that the existence of employees must be maintained and treated properly.
They are not working under you but with you. That is why if I want to address my staff on any issue concerning the business, I use the word "we" instead of I. And I demonstrate it by my actions that the business is a "we" business.
I once asked a boss if he would allow his son to do the kind of work we are doing in his organization. From that day, his attitude towards the staff changed for the positive. As bosses, we should try and sometimes imagine if we were the same employees, it would guide to us on how to treat them.
The attitude of working under me is adopted by arrogant and self seeking bosses who see their organizations as means to victimize and oppress others. Bosses that truly want business growth don't take that posture.
My experience is treating employees like friends and family, we often eat together at the same table, have open communication and are free to express opinions. If employees are valued and comfortable to work with us, they will be more productive.
Most business organizations value profits more than humans and they see humans as tools to make their profits. I see this approach as terrible and the root of exploitative tendencies.

Thisb what most business owners don't know. The pride of I'm the owner of my business and can decide who is going to work bwuthv me overshrouded them. They believe until when they create elements of fearness on their mind before they can get better output from them.
The moment your employees are losing interest in working for you, it is going to affect their productivity level which will directly affect the progress of your business.
