I believe it depends on the nature of the business and its scale. Some organizations require the formation of a team in order to capitalize on diverse skill sets, experiences, expertise, and knowledge.
If you are working for a company, you need to work and cooperate with other co-workers. I am a freelancer now, I enjoy working by myself. I have more freedom in how I deal with my clients and manage my work.

Yes that's true, when working for a company the only choice you have is to work as a team. This would make the work a lot more productive and quicker.
It depends on the person. Some can work individually and others they are better with others. Group work can be essential because they can share best practices and they can be creative with sharing ideas.
