There may be more such Sites but I know Speak Chart Forum and Literacy Base have not officially closed down but nothing happens there LiteracyBase was a good Site for article writers and I earned quite a bit there Speak Chat Forum never paid but the Site is well laid out and easy to navigate.

Would you know any other Sites that have a similar fate?

Yes, I know of iforum the site is still online but not functioning. The admin cam no longer pay users.

There are a few more. Virily - Here the editor is seen writing articles but no interaction. Then there is LiteracyBase where users write articles but no interaction

SpeakChatForum is yet another. A few are still posting.

That's the story of some sites. Their hosting subscription has not expired, so it would still be online. They believe they might get traffic sometime soon.

Most people can afford to run a website, paying the webhosting and domain fees only. However, if they wish to pay contributors the cost of running the website increases to a very great extent.

Not all sites that exist online pay the users, these sites serve different purpose. Not all sites are earning sites.

I doubt anyone can really say why though. Most sites are just like that. There are some where the admin might even disappear but it still functions.

I think these websites started paying with a good intention but lost their way and instead of announcing that they are unable to pay and will close down they scammed us and haven't paid

I really have no ideas about the speakchat forum and the other mentioned sites. The problem with good sites is that they don't last for long.

I think it's because of the lack of enough revenue that has stroked the webmastering venture since the pandemic.

These websites are still working but not paying and I remember LB is still working which have scammed us big time many years ago

It's terrible and this way they are able to get posts on their website for free and many users still post on these websites without even knowing that they are not paying

I think it is just because the hosting for such sites has not yet expired. They have to still stay online.

I think they stopped earning well from ad revenue and so they stopped paying users. Another reason could be the admin got busy elsewhere and does not have time to run a website for now.

the major cause of this is that If it was a paying website they lack fund to settle and pay their workers but will still be visible for assessment

Literacy Base was dead long time ago after it stopped paying people. It was announced by the owner. It's not anymore existing on the web including SCF.
