Dogecoin became popular because Elon Musk was actively promoting it. That was where it even derived it's perceived value. Since that hype was finished, people are now seeing Dogecoin for what it truly is. Just a meme coin with no intrinsic value.

Doge is still a popular cryptocurrency, it is among the top of the top crypto, although I think it does not enjoy the same popularity for example as the one it had between 2019-2021, it may be because of the competition with other meme coins.
