One of the prerequisites of a good country is a free media. in some countries though, the government doesn't allow the media to be free. They gag the media to dance to the government's tune.

Social media has made many governments mad that they can't control the conversations and criticisms targeted at them. In my country, they introduced anti hate speech laws.

No matter how they try to control the media, as far as social media exists, people would still get to know what they don't want the people to know.

People are always relying from word of mouth apart from news from the media like Facebook. People on Facebook spread news like a wild fire.

The youths have found their voice through social media in my country. Even when the government has tried to gag social media with hate speech bill and the lots.

In some countries, government still control the private media with regulations that would gag them. They even try to control social media by arresting influencers.

There is a body in my country that controls media. Every content created must pass through that regulatory body, may have gotten banned because they are against the regulations set by that body.

There is no government that doesn't want to censor the media. They do that as a cover up against their misdeeds in government.

I think the biggest media houses are all owned by politicians in my country. In fact, a news channel in my country that can easily be ranked into top 3 in that niche is owned by the president.

I think the government of all countries want to control the media. Even the advanced countries, the governments are indirectly trying to control the media with lawsuits.
