Gold also depreciates. bitcoin is referred as the digital gold because of the potentials it has in the future.

I think that each one has its characteristics. Bitcoin is faster, easier to transport, more divisible and scarcer in general, gold is more well known, it has been with us for millennia and has a very long history, in addition to being tangible and you can have it physically.

Both bitcoin and gold have different purposes. Bitcoin is mostly used for online transactions. Gold is more storing value.
