Can one earn a decent living from just being an MC?

I can talk very well. I have never been tired of talking. I have a dream of pursuing a career as an MC. Is this a viable career path? Is that enough to earn a living? How do I start an MC career?

One can never make a decent living from just being an MC. You earn only when you're being called upon and it's occasionally. One can make only make a few amount of money at that moment

You can earn a decent living by just being a MC. No profession is a waste. Every business has its own potency. The ability to discover this potency and maximize it is what makes some practioner celebrities. That is why some are better than the rest.
To flourish in this business, you have to develop passion in it and be creative. Look at the areas that would make you excel over your rivals in the business.

Nowadays the jobs that seems to be time wasters and not worthy, that often seems to be lowly paying, they contrary pay alot of money compared to the regular White collar jobs

@cherry123 thanks for the complement. But I know of some guys that charge up to 30k ($50) just to MC a wedding reception of just about 1 hour plus max. And they have jobs every other weekend.

It's a good career, but I feel it will be better if you go into some other related things like being a mass communicator, content creator, public speaker, motivational speaker or a comedian. Or you can just find something that can make you well known

In my location, a good MC can make a lot of money. S(he) may work for a TV station and be the MC of big shows. There are also many company events which require the service of MC. To pursue a career in this profession, you need to have good connections.

There are lots of celebrities who specialize in MC in Nigeria. They are earning better incomes from it because they take it as their professional vocations and not as hobbies. The way you take your profession and develop it would determine if it is going to be relied upon as major sources of earning.

Yes, I agree with you. Just as I have said earlier on, the way you brands your profession is the way people are going to accept you. MC is not a trivial profession that could be treated with lenient hands. There are many celebrities in this field who are making fortunes out of it.

I think he is referring to a person who can host on different events. I had tried to be a host or facilitator, but it does not pay that much. I prefer to work in a company regularly.

Yes it is very possible to earn a living by just being an mc, but it also depends on the kind of gigs you are called for. There are some gigs that would pay a lot due to the kind of persons present.
