Can someone make a living by being just a real estate agent?

I often see some people around where I live. They don't really have a job and they are into full time agency for real estate. If one needs to rent an apartment or buy a real estate property, they have the connects.

I am just wondering if someone can earn a complete living by doing real estate consultancy?

Without having connections and without having marketing skills, it is not possible to earn as a real estate agents. It is a competitive field even though earning can be good
