Can you file a legal case when your boss asks you to do other tasks not included in your job responsibilities?

It is inevitable that some bosses are quite abusive. They tend to let their employees do other tasks that are not included in the contract. In some countries, it is not allowed to do this, such as in Canada. In Canada, if your employer did this, you can file a legal case against him or her. I think we need to make it as a good practice not to be abusive to our employees.

It is expected to resolve this issues through litigation or report to the trade unions where such case happen. But it would be better if the matters is resolved amicably using the interior mechanisms like supervisor or company workers union rather than go to court.
Workers are haphazardly assigned kinds of works not included in their job requirements but which have to be done as situations arises.

You cannot sue your boss for asking you to do something that's part of a job in the company where you're working. But in a situation where the company is under staffed, you can negotiate working more hours to get paid more.

In my location, workers may report the case to the Labor Department. They would send a Labor Officer to act as a mediator to resolve the issue. However, if the boss requests the worker to do some illegal activities, s(he) may report to the Police Department.

Before signing the contract, the company's person-in-charge needs to explain it to the employee to be hired. In this way, there will be no complains. If they do, then they just need to resign and find a new company.

Instead of sueing your boss, why not discuss it out with him or her? Cause taking legal actions would cause you to spend more. If you sure the task given to you are not part of your job description, then discuss it with him, if you still can't handle it, it would be best to find somewhere else.

As stated above I believe that the matter should be resolve amicably. Going through litigation or report to the trade unions can be a big issue but can be adopted if need be.

If you are in such a situation it looks like there is no camaraderie in existence Despite all formalities sometimes doing jobs that are not listed can happen. It depends on your relationship with your boss.

You will be wasting your energy and money. You can refute that it's not part of the contract but if there is no other to handle why refused when you're paid. You're a contractual employee, your attitude matters in the next application, you won't be hired for being rebellious.

I think that the best route to take is to negotiate with the boss before you think of legal action. But it is permissible considering the circumstance.
