That's it ,and that must be done quickly as they hear about what is happening before it goes out of hand , and also they shouldn't try to justify their actions at first , all they need to do is to apologise.
There is an organization I know. Their PR team is comprised of top writers and eloquent speakers. Immediately you publish something bad about them, there would be a counter publication immediately.

It depends on the particular issue and the circumstances surrounding it. Call a press conference and explain the true position. Admit, take responsibility and apologize if the business was wrong. Don't try to claim right if the organization was truly wrong.
This is true. That is why it is very important to be true to yourself. If you realize that your organization is not doing something right, you need to call their attention to it

This is true. There are so many things that you need to sacrifice for your business. There are sometimes when you need to sacrifice some attitude just because you want your business to go far

You should always have protocol for damage control in ready. Even if you don't use it, you will be prepared for that unconfortable situation. Damage control is something nobody like it.

That's actually the best, this won't allow outsiders to paint a bad image about the company and most companies with good reputation must have these teams in order to save their back from the public when matters of this form arises.

Damage control are often under cover of insurance companys. Those one of the worst companys ever. For them worker is always guilty and they always try pay lower money than you deserve.

You are right. When you are transparent, the people who work with you or who you work with will find it very easy to trust you and also believe your words.
