A person who purposefully disagrees, even and especially if their statement is not their genuine position, in order to spark debate and critical discussion of a topic is referred to as the "devil's advocate." Well, I don't see it as anything bad provided it wouldnt lead to witch-hunting or detrimental to the wellbeing of anyone. if it just for augment then well and good for everyone

I think some illusions like this doesn't add any value to the Businesses. However some bosses oftenly use this to demonstrate their ego for ownership of the business and organisations at large.

I think there are better ways to sparkle discussion other than disagreeing on purpose. One can ask relevant questions or comments on the pros and cons of certain issues. This encourages meaningful and productive discussion.

It is not a must that everyone's idea will be followed because that doesn't make it right which is why you have to overlook the ones that are not realistic and follow the ones that are going to be effective.

You are right. We cannot just do the given recommendations right away. We need to take time and seek assistance from the other team members to validate the effectiveness of these possible solutions.

In most cases this can actually help though, with this the workers would put in more effort to think of more ideas and even counter ideas each time. This would spark creativity.
