When you purchase in bulk, you might save money as you can usually get discounts for bulk purchase but when you buy in bulk you also misuse your purchase by using it more, so ultimately you end up spending more money through bulk purchase.

I buy what is required as buying in bulk there is the fear of stuff going stale.
Bulk shopping helps me a lot, I get to buy things on wholesale price and that saves me some money. I also get more than I could if I bought less, so I get to enjoy the quantity. Then I try my best to use the shopping carefully instead of misusing it for being in large amounts.
If you are a waster, you should know yourself and stay away from bulk purchases. But I am not a waster, so I get to save more.
This concept is certainly a big part of what has made retailers like Costco so successful, but I would argue that you're typically paying more anyway. They fool us with odd ball package sizes that make it difficult to compare to what you would purchase at another retailer.
I acquire items in bulk to take advantage of discounts and minimize my trips to the grocery store. By buying in bulk, I can save money.
I am not in favour of purchasing things in bulk as that's how we waste my money and things by making excess inventory.
I only buy in bulk when there is a good deal such as buy one get one free, or big discounts when you buy two or more. You can always save money this way.
Purchasing bulk items comes with its own disadvantages. For example, you cannot purchase perishable items such as food in bulk quantity.
