I believe that any business that wants to go far should be strategic when it comes to taking advantage of opportunities. There is a reason why whatsapp was sold to Facebook. And whatsapp is now bigger.

Merger happen when a business is in the verge of a collapse. So to save the company it goes into a merger with a healthy company It is better that way instead for the business to fall

It might also be for the reason of having a higher expansion capability that two businesses might decide to come together and form a merger so that they will have a combined resources to work in a higher capacity.

Just maybe some of the paid to post forums that closed down wouldn't have if they had found a way to negotiate a merger for the business.

I have noticed this mergers thing tt brings about significant layoff of workers. you are right the new organization might not be able to absorb staff or all the staff from the new one

In some cases yes, this usually happens, especially when the main company feel most of the workers are not competent enough to work in the new company. But this is not always the case though. There are times where workers are not laid off.

Yesh a merger will help as long as the merging company is working as much as it should be. Even on the case of incompetent workers the company should be merged.

Mergers can really be beneficial for a business and come in handy when there is a strain on a struggling business.

Mergers are more prominent now because businesses see the gains that is involved in being one big unit than small divisible parts.
