Do you believe that a conflict is an acceptable justification for taking time off or missing work?

I used to have a co-worker who always missed work due to conflicts in the company. It happened when some colleagues questioned her promotion, which I think is questionable. Because of this, it proves that she cannot handle the pressure or the issue. Eventually, she resigned after a few days. She made herself the talk of the town for doing this.

No that's not right as you stated it proves that such a person cannot handle the pressure or the issue. Eventually, you might begins to think of escape route which might not be necessary

Conflict is not the excuse for taking time off for sure. If someone encounters conflict, s(he) should find a way to resolve it. Taking time off is irresponsible and cannot be accepted.

Though in some cases it might be beyond their control, so it is understandable. But when it becomes something that is constantly happening, this would affect the business. It is best you let such persons go.

It depends on the depth of the conflict. Some conflicts can affect a staff's sanity. The staff might need some days off to regain balance and get over it.

I believe that missing work is a better justification than conflict
Conflict in business places is not a good justification for an employee it's very wrong actually a I think it is best avioded

It is wrong for anyone to criticize her for resigning. We have to accept and understand that everyone may not be like us. It is not everyone that has the ability handle challenging situations and face them squarely. Some are not very strong mentally and we have to respect that.
