It is not possible for each and every person to grow vegetables in their houses, most of the people like me live in apartment so how can we manage it, if we try to do it in pots then it won't grow well.
When I was growing some vegetables, the neighbors falsely complained that I was causing dengue and cut off the water supply to my house, so now I purchase everything.

Yes I am incharge of most of the buy decisions at least to pay for those but there are things like veggies and fruits and some other perishable goods that are purchased by my parents
I bought everything like new appliances at home and they couldn't be bought all the time that's one time and for the food consumption it cannot be everything bought. They are bought alternately.
I do not live alone, i live in with parents. My mom likes to buy in bulk, she buys everything we need for our household except for perishable items which she gets when they are needed.
Are the backyard vegetables enough to feed your family? It is possible to live without buying food especially when living in the countryside, where everything is on the farm and easily accessible.
