Green areas such as parks and grass surfaces (natural, not artificial) showed all their strength this summer. Temperatures on and around green areas were much lower than on concrete surfaces. The best example was shown by Paris, where the temperature difference between concrete and green surfaces was almost 20C. Many say that this autumn, green areas in the city must be doubled.

yesh we have a lot of green areas in the city. These green areas make the city very beautiful

Latest reserach say small green are like parks or threes in line can lower temperature for 5C. Now imagine it is 35C in town. With small green areas could be 30C. That is big difference for human body. People would go outside and walk, run, drive a bike instead of siting in apartment under air condition spending electric power.

Hong Kong is a compact city with tall buildings everywhere. In my opinion, we do not have enough green areas. We just have a few parks. If we go to outlying islands, there are more green areas.
