Do you have rent control policy in your country?

There is actually rent control policy in this part of the world. Some time ago landlords were charging money for a period of 2 years minimum if you want to rent a property. But the government came up with a policy that landlords shouldn't charge money for more than a year.
Probably, some landlords can be very exploitative sometimes. These kind of policies is very important and necessary to protect tenants.
There is rent control policy in my country but it is not always implemented.
It is also the same thing here in my country. There are some landlords or landladies who do not pay rental taxes. That is why they keep this negotiation in secret. However, they will be punished if the authorities found out about it.
I know that rent control policy is a function that is in the concurrent list in my country. It is available in some States in my country. Landlords can be overbearing sometimes.
We have some different policy as the rent will not increase for three years, we were very happy when we gone through it but almost nobody cares about this law and after every 11 months we get increase in rent by ten percent.
That's one of the problems in developing countries. There are good laws but there is failure on implementation. And that has affected the development of these countries. It is pathetic.
There is nothing like this in my country because house owner or landlord are always being very wicked to the tenants by increasing their house rent all the time without any regulation.
There is rent control policy actually. I know that Lagos state has. Just that the problem is who will implement it. And the tenants don't have the exposure to push their cases forward when they are mistreated.
It is also the same thing here. Despite having the rental policy, some of the landlords do not follow the rules. They tend to be more in taking advantage not paying taxes and the like.
There is rent control policy but many people don't care about. Probably due to ignorance and cultural perspectives of things. We strongly believe that the owner of a property have full right to do as he pleases. There is a massive exploitation going in renting property in my country.
Unfortunately all those bodies that are supposed to help out are even corrupt because they have a way of getting their own share of whatever the landlord association have to offer them which is why they don't get involved in their business.
You just put this argument to bed. The agencies look the other way. The corruption in Nigeria is systemic. Not just on the part of the government. Landlords can raise rental prices to any levels, the government doesn't care.
