Do you prefer the powder detergents or the bar washing soaps?

I think that is based on the nature of the waters. For me we use the hard waters for washing so the bar soaps are the priority.

We usually use detergent when washing clothes in the house through the use of washing machine. It is more convenient that handwashing with bar soaps.
