Monetary gains and profits is definitely one big indicator of the success of the business. When people work on their idea, they either want to do it for charity or for commercial purposes. The one done for commercial purposes is called business and it's first and foremost aim is to get financial profits.
The major reason for creating a business is to make money and every other thing that are included in the process are all geared towards making money.
Sometimes the business becomes a hit but still doesn't yield profit. Unless you clear your loans and other initial investment into running a business, you can not call it a profit making business. So, the real profit might be a bit slower to catch up with the success of the business.
Sure it is and when once you have money from the business it points to it being successful
A company which is successful in building up a good reputation and good turnover may not be making a lot of profit. That depends on how the company price their products and their cost in producing the products.
If you have a successful business and high quality products and services then definitely money will follow you.

I agree there. But then if money is not following then the business can not sustain despite having all these. Businesses have to make profit , else one can not keep running it. If there is no profit in some given time frame, it would shut down. It can only go forward as a charity.

I totally agree there. If you have knowledge and preparedness around that, business goes smoothly. If one is running business and not a charity, money has to come. In the initial days, that money might not be considered as profit because a lot of initial cost of establishing the business and running cost have to paid. So , the real profit making might take some time.
Without knowledge about the business it may even lead to big loss
