In some countries, they experience an incredibly low turn out of eligible voters for elections. The authorities are considering to make voting mandatory. Do you think it would go against the principles of democracy for voting to be made mandatory?

In some countries, voting is a joke. There is a family that is giving elections to themselves and some figurants that share 1 % election voting between themselves and recommends this person to be voted out.

These are the kinds of things that would make people not to bother voting. Making it mandatory doesn't make sense if the votes of the people do not count in the end.

I think it should be since people must start control politicans. On current rules many people don't go voting but later keep complain about bad situation in country. Maybe some app could help people but then it is bigger possibilty of manipulation.

I think making voting mandatory does not go against democracy. After all democracy is a government that is ment fo the people and is made by the people. We are the ones to vote in who we want to lead us. There is usually low turn outs or lost of interest in voting due to the many levels of corruption in elections these days.

It is true that the right to vote is a Democratic right for every citizen and that when you vote then you decide which political party that you usher in government has better policies to help move the country to better opportunities for the citizens and the country by and large but because of the complacentness of various governments to walk the talk is what has made the situation which has led to voter apathy. People just do not fulfil what ordinary people desire. So it is not a good thing but voter apathy is inevitable.
