Yes, it happens but now they are grown up and they don't require their parents much unlike in childhood when they used to take our advice even for the small issues. Things change with time.

Yes the education has become expensive these days specially the higher education. If you go for professional course you have to spend lots of money in the fees. It's not easy to raise many kids now a days.
