Dress Codes at Work

Are dress codes important? Is there any benefit to having a formal dress code?

There are several businesses around my area, where the ones that do not provide clothing for the job, requires certain types of clothing to work, or recommends that you wear certain clothing that would help you be comfortable on the job. The ones that require a dress code, even when not dealing with customers or in areas where a dress code might be needed, I don't particularly care for. Though I do agree that a dress code can help with how someone feels confident on the job.

Though not all companies make use of this, but yes to some degree, dress code are extremely important. Dress code gives an impression of orderliness and as well shows they are organized.

That depends on the industry you work in. Here, banks require male workers to wear suits and women workers to wear dress when reporting to work. Most technology companies do not have any particular dress code but smart casual is more appropriate.

Dress codes could be very demanding of you attimes, just imagine asking you to dress in a particular color and then match it up with footwear.I think we could have just been asked to dress official ..

I do think it is important to wear uniforms because they can distinguish which department the employees connected. Although it depends what kind of job because some virtual jobs do not need to wear them.

Yes like I said earlier on I don't like people wearing uniforms to work but I am very much against in formal dressing to work

We have a dress code here where I work. Maybe the dress code shows equality. I didn't like it when I joined the company but now I agree that it's a good thing to have it.

Same here,any job or duty that will require me to wear a particular dress, is an automatical turn off for me, because I dislike putting on a particular dress code.

I also do not like that. However, the main issue is that we just cannot deal with the fact that we cannot change things. There are many businesses that have a specific policy related to dress code. They strictly follow that.

I am against the implementation of any kind of dress code in the workplace. What has the clothes you wear have to do with your productivity and efficiency? However, I believe staff should dress modestly.

Well, I think that dress codes are quite important when you work. This is why you may be criticised for wearing some kind of dress that might violate the dress code policy. Each and every place has its own rules and regulations.

A lot of people that I know feel the same way about jobs that forced you to wear uniforms because you will always have to worry about what you need to wear to work all the time.

Womens at my place are not allowed have decoltage. especially those bigs, or short dress above knee. Some wear summer dress with smaller decoltage when kids are not in school and when weather is hot.

In schools, they have a dress code here. Here they are not allowed to wear a short dress. Most teachers used to wear a sari which is an "Indian dress", in schools.

I have casual dress code at work. Maybe for some special events I wear little more serious clothes. Only thing I can't wear are short pants or shirts with political message.
