Drinking water first thing in the morning is very important. You start your day with stopping the nightly dehydration. it would help to flushes out the stomach and therefore balances the lymphatic system which will prevent you from getting sick very often.

I drink a glass of water right after waking up. I don't quite remember when I started this practice. It was a long time ago

You're absolutely right. Drinking water as soon as you wake up is an excellent habit. After going all night without hydrating, your body is dehydrated and in need of replenishment.
