Earning Money From Your Designs?

If you have any good site i can do this i would really appreciate it. I have been thinking about doing some designs i can sell online. I think it would be a good way to make money online.

A friend of mine is a graphics designer. He designs logos and storyboards for companies. He is a freelancer. He told me he mainly get his clients from referrals and word of mouth. I'm not sure if he promotes his works on those webites.
