Remember the Silk Road, a dark web that the FBI exposed for selling illegal drugs? Although the FBI exposed Silk Park in 2013, it continued to run because, instead of dollars, the management was using bitcoin (and bitcoin got blamed for helping illegal activities). Not only that, a hacker stole Silk Road's bitcoins, which led it into a financial crisis. Those bitcoins were seized by the US government.

Now the FED is selling those bitcoins for dollars.
