How are small scale business coping in your location?

One of the big challenges faced by small businesses in my country is insecurity. Their shops are robbed and looted. Some have to pay for security men to secure their shops at nights which amounts in extra cost in running business.

There are a few small scale business and I must say that they are struggling. They usually struggle a lot because the economy of the country is down or the location of the business may not be suitable.

They struggle more with this inflation. Customers are blaming them for hikes in prices. Manufacturers are not showing mercy and are acting out the inflation reality. Small businesses are just like in the middle.

If there is one thing I love about my region is the fact that no matter how loyal you are to a big scale business once there is a small scale business around you you still patronize them because they put in hard work to even start up such a business.

True, the economic situation in Nigeria is not friendly at all especially for small business owners. There are so many persons who have started one business or the other but have not been able to keep up with it due to the situation of things.

The government in my country has taken huge initiatives to boost small and medium scale businesses but the problem we face is from government agencies that seem to want to frustrate the desire of small businesses to grow. Take for instance, Bank of Industry would refuse to give out loans to business people that are small thing even when government has approved and disbursed funds for small businesses.

Taxes and cost of power is what is killing the ability of small businesses to thrive in my country. The truth is that no business can really work without power and when one has to generate his own power to run his business, it becomes extremely difficult to run a business.

Even looking at how inflation is also adding to the challenges of taxation and cost of power is affecting the business makes it even more difficult for them to make any reasonable profit.
