How can business owners handle the issue of business spying
I don't think it is possible to avoid spying because someone was spying would do it secretly without you knowing except if you can keep some certain things secret and not revealing it to employees.
It will be better not to display the price tag in case the business is a big store. Or, to order the staff or workers not to entertain a stranger who may keep on asking about the price and the names of the products that are displayed.
Some businesses would go as far as planting a mole in your top management team who would be reporting strategies to the competing business. That's why you have to be careful with recruitment.
You don't have to share trade secrets and strategies with everyone. You have to be minimal with the information that you let out about your business. And be careful of the people you work with. They might be pawns without your knowledge.
I don't think a business owner should waste his time on try to prevent competitors from spying on him. A business owner should consign himself with ideas of increasing the quality and supply chain of his business.
Business spying is common in the business world, there are steps you may implement to protect your business data and secrets.
1. Use anti-virus software and firewall to protect your computer network.
2. Use multiple-factor authentication.
3. Restrict the distribution of the most sensitive documents.
4. Teach your staff good cybersecurity practices.
It is almost impossible. Even if you employ only your family members, the competitor can still offer money and he or she turns into a sellout. Just keep your treasured business secrets to yourself.
