How can one asked for a promotion at the workplace

Promotion in some workplace comes at a specific schedule and if one don't get it, what do you think it is the right way to approach the HR or the employer asking for the due promotion?

If I don't get a promotion I don't ask my boss or HR for it. Why should someone ask it, it is given as per the performance of an employee and if the performance of an employee is not evaluated well then promotion is not given.

Sometimes it is oversight so you have to remind them especially if it is a fixed promotion that everyone is aware of but you are yet to receive it

If it's a promotion that is given to everyone, you can politely ask for it. This can be accompanied by any further qualifications and experience you have gotten.

At work, promotion can be done by applying to open positions. There is no way we can go to HR and ask for it if this is no open position. Apply > HR interview > Manager interview or higher manager will do final interview depending on the outcome.

It happens sometimes the bosses forget and one has to remind the boss to forget it, we had a case like this, he complained about it but it didn't do good to the person.

Is there such thing as hand picked promotion.
I believe in the government most people are being assigned the promotion. In some private companies too, maybe. But the culture in the industry I belong to, if a person wants a promotion, he can apply for it. There maybe less percentage where a person is assigned.

My experience has never been to approach HR to ask for a promotion, but by showing my ability, craftsmanship, willing to help others. discipline, firm, improve communication, improve your leadership spirit, be patient. because the boss or HR needs to make sure that you deserve to be promoted.

Well, I know that we need to exhibit good traits to get promoted but how about the scheduled ones that is meant for everyone that one isn't given. I think approaching the HR wouldn't be a bad idea.l

I never asked for a promotion. I often discuss my performance with my supervisor during the annual assessment. I would also take that opportunity to ask him about my prospects in the company.

For me I can't claim for something from the people that they ought to give it to me willingly. If If I do found that my junior colleagues are promoted and I don't I can think of quitting the Job over greener pastures.

First and foremost you have to be actually hardworking so you asking for promotion would be actually worth it. Each business have their ways in which they this though. So there is usually forms you can fill to request this, while there are other places you can ask the manager or business owner directly.

As an employee, one should know when does promotion is given to each employees, normally after six month or a year, there's always a work evaluation for individual employees, only then you can expect or ask for your rightful promotion, if you believe that you should be receiving one.

Asking for promotion is essential requirement for employee specially when it is due because at least we can get informed that why we are not getting promotion so we can overcome that thing.
