Having read some of the comments I also think it depends on what line of work you are in..

If I worked in a bank, I don't think I would call my boss by his first name, but in the factory where I work we use first names.

When I done my house cleaning round there were a couple of people who chose for me to call them Mr and Mrs , that was fine by me, they would call me by my first name and that was fine

That is what it is. My staff call me boss and they make it sound formal or formal when the need for each situation arises.
That sounds just grand.

What sort of work are you in? Have you been boss for very long.

Great to meet you on here, I am still slowly learning my way round this forum, I am a bit of a dinosaur on things like this

In Nigeria especially Yorubaland, it is regarded uncultured and immoral to call your boss by his name. Bosses are always addressed ''sir or ma'' without adding his name. Everything here is done on respect manner. Junior worker found to be insubordinate would be sanctioned.
Not just in the Yoruba land though, its pretty much almost everywhere in Nigeria, it even feels wrong calling your boss by his name, its either we just call him boss or we add boss or sir before calling his name.

It has been great to read about what people call their boss from the many different countries we all live in, and what people prefer to call the boss man.

An education every time I come here to read

When i had a job, i referred to my boss as sister and her first name. This is because she treated us like a sister and i also saw her as an elder sister.
