How do you deliver bad news to your customers?

Though as a business owner, no one prays for this but there are times you might not be able to handle a particular job either cause you have so much at hand or maybe the materials you need for the job is not available, how do you pass the news to your client or customers? Cause there are some customers who would quickly go to another place the moment you do not deliver.

For me I will communicate with the client on wny there's bad news concerning their job. but I will be quick to add that I will deliver the job even with the news

Nice one, but what if it's a situation where you are not sure you will be able to deliver the work, do you still tell them this or you only say this when you know in the end you would still deliver the work?

if I'm not sure to be able to deliver the work, I will still tell them because I will want to be open and truthful to my customers. They will understand to give me more time to deliver

Good one, honestly pays but these days most business owners are very sure they won't be able to deliver but they still collect orders from customers telling them they can do it. It's so annoying when I see this.

I think here the business manager shall use wisdom and business tactics that the customers couldn't get surprised so much at the sudden change in the prices.

There is no other way to handle that than to openly communicate with the customer. Be sincere and if possible, show proofs of the challenges you are facing. Some might even be patient for you to fix yourself.

I don't withhold an apology when I want to deliver an unpleasant news to a customer. I try to make sure that I contact them first and not allow them to be the first to contact me.
