How do you ensure that your ads are visually appealing?

In order to create highly converting ads, your ads need to be visually appealing. This applies to ads in visual graphic formats as well as video ads. When the ads are visually appealing, people will easily remember the product being advertised. The visuals will always remind people about the product. How do you ensure that your ads visually appealing and attention-grabbing advertisements?

I think it would be nice to go through the ads of others and pick out one or two things form it. Research on your competition and find out what they did that is working for them then improve on it.
