What you mentioned is very true, let alone asking for a debit card number. Be careful because the debit card number is part of the privacy that is not required for money transfer transactions. For money transfer transactions, only the name of the beneficiary, the beneficiary account number, and the name of the beneficiary bank are needed.
I get an email most of the time for my transactions. Now I know the difference between a fake email and a real one just for the way the email looks . they most thing to look for is misspelled words and also when I hover the mouse pointer over the email, the address says something different than who the company is
Fraudsters in my country have devised a ploy of sending fake smses indicating that they have send money to their victims. It is thus crucial for users of mobile money services to be ever keen so as to screen out these bogus text messages.
Having said that I am someone that always knows the last amount of money I have in my balance so I will do the calculation when an alert is being sent via credit or debit alert I will calculate what I supposed to be there and check the balance before I can confirm if it is a real transaction or a fake alert.

They try to be smart by not putting the balance because they know a target would catch them at that point. But some people are too careless and don't even look at the credit alerts very well before accepting the transaction as completed.
I don't know how easy it is for people to fall victims of this. There is a reason you have your bank app. It is meant to give you that extra measure of security. I have a policy which I tell customers before any transaction that no transaction is complete without an indication from my bank app.
