it is not good to over staff your workplace as some people will be idle. So how do you know you have more workers thsn necessary

When some people don't have jobs to do some days

When there are a lot of idle time for some workers than when they are engaged

Even with high absence of worker's some days the jobs are still accomplished on time

In managing of over populated work area I suggest a proper follow up should be carried out to ascertain regular feedback to employees on their performance, including areas where they are excelling and areas where they need improvement and Offer coaching and support to help employees develop their skills and reach their full potential maintaining open lines of communication with employees, including regular staff meetings, individual check-ins, and company-wide updates which helps to build trust and collaboration, and ensures that employees are informed about this sets all employees from be idle which requires there effort in carrying out your company policies

Yeah the managers or employers should check When there are a lot of idle time for some workers this shows that the jobs isn't going round for some people then

You want them to overwork people's children and parents to death. There should be times that staff just sit and rest. It is not overstaffing. Just look at the wage bill in comparison to the revenue to see if you are overstaffing.

The above features are ways some companies knew they were overstaffed. Situation where workers made arrangements among themselves on how to relieve one another at work and do over work at the proxy of other workers, the management take it upon themselves to find ways of cutting their workers size and maintain only few.

One way to know this is when you have more workers than the actual job. When there are workers not having anything to do almost for the whole day is a clear sign.

You described the situation well. If a company did not do a feasibility study, it is most likely that they will encounter this concern. That is why some companies are violating the contract and letting the employees do other tasks not included in their job responsibilities.

It is not that the company don't do feasibility studies, the facts remains that unforeseen contingency at times could thrash the plans of such company.
Overstuffed could happen at times when the production quota dropped as a result of poor sales and the company does not want to sack any of its workers.

For me, it can be seen when having the management part of the business feasibility study. This is what I did when I created my own. I was able to determine how many staff and employees that I need before starting up the business.

It is going to be very obvious to you that your workers are not doing anything because you will definitely see that their work output is nothing much compared to when they have a lot of things to do.

Position of the company at times causes effect of over staff to occur. When company is producing far below its maximum output, there would be less work for workers to perform. It is then you will see scenarios where only one shift is maintained by the company. Whose fault?.

The very obvious one is when some of the staff are just idling away this is why one should be sure of the Job before employing more hands to do the job

You are right it is always obvious with less work for staff like you stated about two staff doing exactly the same job tasks and roles. it shows easily the problem of overstaffing

Yes that's for a fact but overstaffing come with more problems as one would be wasting more money as you are paying some workers for jobs that thru are not doing
